A native of Malaysia, Lee Yin Hwa, obtained his Bachelors and Masters from Western Illinois University, and a post-graduate study at Boston University under the Dean’s scholarship. His principal teachers include Anthony Di Bonaventura, Michael Campbell, James Magsig, Rickie Oui and Serena Chow. Yin Hwa was awarded 3rd prize at the 1st Brevard Music Festival piano competition in North Carolina. He was also a concerto winner at Western Illinois University. Yin Hwa has worked with international musicians such as Andre Watts, Aldo Mancinelli, Bruce Murray, Florence Kirsch, Ying quartet. He has collaborated with WIU concert choir, University Orchestra and the Wind ensemble. Yin Hwa has been invited to perform in Japan and South Korea; and was featured in Malaysia’s MPO chamber music series and festivals such as KK Music Festival and KL Piano Gala.


A well sought after clinician and adjudicator, Yin Hwa was the artistic director of the 1st Southeast Asia (SEA) piano competition. He has also adjudicated for The Asia Music Competition (Taiwan) and HKYPAF; The Symphonia’s , Star Quarto’s and Elyon’s competitions in Indonesia. Currently, Yin Hwa is on the piano faculty of UCSI.
