Lim Tao received his Bachelor's degree from UCSI University in 2018. He was a recipient of UCSI Trust Scholarship, and graduated with first class honours. He studied piano under tutelage of Prof. Dr. P’ng Tean Hwa. He holds ATCL and LTCL music diploma in piano performance. He has performed in masterclasses given by Dr Julie Bees, Dr Peter Amstutz, James Kirby, Ng Chong Lim, Lluís Rodríguez Salvà. Lim Tao was a frequent prize winner of local piano competitions, and had won the first prize of the piano festival and competition organized by Malaysian Youth Orchestra Foundation (MYOF) in 2016, 2013, 2012.

As a keen music educator, Lim Tao has been teaching in Institute of Music, UCSI University as a full-time music tutor and piano instructor upon his graduation. He teaches music theory, musicianship training, and applied piano at foundation and diploma level.
