An active recitalist, Chan Kiat Lim has performed solo and chamber recitals in Germany, Greece, Italy, Romania, Asia, and throughout the United States including solo performances at Music at Penn Alps Concert Series in Maryland, Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, and a return to Steinway Hall, New York City, in 2011.


Lim’s interest and research in Twentieth-century music by American composers have led to the release of a CD, funded by Louisiana Division of the Arts Grant, entitled An American Kaleidoscope (2011). In collaborated with bass-baritone Shawn Roy, this CD features two world-premiere recordings of works by musical giants William Bolcom and Ned Rorem.


A pedagogue and clinician, Lim is the co-author of online multimedia curriculum eNovativePiano, which has been adopted by leading music institutions in the United States. Lim has presented at the World Conference of the International Society for Music Education, College Music Society National Conferences, Music Teachers National Association (MTNA) National Conferences, and the National Group Piano and Piano Pedagogy Forum on various pedagogical and performance topics. In March, he honored as a MTNA Fellow at the National Conference in Chicago.


In 2015, Lim received the Louisiana Music Teachers Association Outstanding Teacher Award and the Distinguished Professor Award from the University of Louisiana at Lafayette where he holds the Margaret Chauvin Steen Villemez Professorship in Music. He teaches piano performance, keyboard literature, class piano, and lectures in the Study Abroad Program in Florence, Italy. Dedicated as a teacher, his students have captured top prizes and awards at national and international piano competitions.
