Assistant Professor Ysan Suit Yin is the Head of the Classical Music Degree at UCSI University. She is a very dedicated teacher and has been actively teaching since 1986. Her academic achievements are mainly in teaching, ATCL (Teaching), LTCL (Teaching), LRSM (Teaching) and she was one of the first in South East Asia to be awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Schools of Music (FRSM) in teaching by the Royal School of Music.
While living in London, Suit Yin studied with Professor Vanessa Latarche (Head of Keyboard at the Royal College of Music), Professor Dr. Colin Kingsley, Dennis Lee and Toh Chee Hung. Suit Yin received an exemption from a Bachelor Degree in Music, hence a place was offered and accepted in London College of Music with partial bursary for a Master Degree in Performance under the guidance of Piano Professor Andrew Zolinsky. Her teachers also include Simon Rigby, Philip Mead and Dr. Anna McCready.
Suit Yin have participated in a ‘Project Concert’ (music written between 1920 and 1940) at LCM and one of the finalists in John Ireland Piano Competition in 2009. During her academic year, she was awarded a scholarship to the Dartington International Summer School. Suit Yin was a member of Kingston and District Chamber Music Society in London and played regularly with the other members from the society between 2004 and 2012.
Suit Yin has been invited as one of the adjudicators for UCSI IPFC since 2014, Asia International Piano Competition in 2015 and International Music Society Piano Competition in 2018. She also has given piano masterclasses in International Music Society Music School in 2018 and SMK Musik Methodist Charles Wesley in 2019. Suit Yin is the chairperson for UCSI University Piano Pedagogy Conference and hosted the conference in 2019.
