A native of Kajang, Malaysia, Chooi Foong graduated from Goldsmiths College, University of London with Masters of Music in Performance and Related Studies. Both a skilful researcher and performer, she studied piano under Ng Chong Lim and Cheong Yew Boon in Kuala Lumpur prior to working with Andrew Zolinsky during her studies in London. She also had the opportunity to participate in collaborative piano performances within Goldsmiths as well as charity concerts around London during her studies abroad. Having taught piano since 1999, her teaching experience extends from teaching beginners to advanced performers at undergraduate level, iGCSE music tutoring, lecturing, coaching chamber music ensembles, and musicianship skills training. Currently, Chooi Foong is a member of the senior piano faculty at Bentley Music Academy and an adjunct lecturer at Institute of Music, UCSI University in Kuala Lumpur. Apart from being one of the regular adjudicators of the International Piano Festival and Competition at UCSI University; she also co-founded Malaysian Piano Quartet, a quartet specialising in 2-pianos 8-hands music, in 2016. Since their debut recital in December 2016, Chooi Foong has since performed with the quartet regularly.
