Hooi Yin Boey served as Associate Professor of Music at Alderson Broaddus University until the Spring of 2016. A native of Malaysia, Dr. Boey earned her Associate Degree in piano performance at UCSI University, followed by B.M., M.M., and D.M.A in piano performance at West Virginia University. Her teachers and mentors include Mrs. Elizabeth Chiang, Dr. Peter Amstutz, Dr. Connie Arrau Sturm, and Dr. James Miltenberger.


In 2014, Dr. Boey was honored by ABU's Student Government Association as the "Outstanding Faculty Member of the Year." She is also the recipient of the 2012 Distinguished Teacher of the Year award from the West Virginia Music Teachers Association. Dr. Boey is a dedicated studio teacher and her students, including pre-college and college level, have won numerous awards in performance competitions.


Hooi Yin Boey is active as recitalist and accompanist; she has also given scholarly presentations at the National Convention of the Music Teachers National Association and at the State Convention of the West Virginia Music Education Association. In one of the performance highlights as a collaborative artist, she performed at Carnegie Hall in New York City in the 2010 ensemble debut of ABU's Concert Choir. Dr. Boey is active as adjudicator for piano competitions in West Virginia, Ohio, and Virginia. Dr. Boey has been an active member of MTNA and WVMTA since 1998 and has served on the WVMTA Administrative Board since 2005.
