P'ng Tean Hwa

A native of Petaling Jaya, P’ng Tean Hwa is currently Professor and Director of the Institute of Music at UCSI University in Kuala Lumpur, where he has served since 1997. At UCSI University, he is a member of the University Council, a long-standing member of the University Examination Board, and has served as the Chair of the Senate Learning and Teaching Committee in 2007–2010.

Loo Bang Hean

Born in Ipoh, Malaysia, Bang Hean’s teachers in Malaysia include Serena Chow and Rickie Oui. He was the winner of the First National Mozart Piano Competition in 1987, and two years later a scholarship from the music examination board, ABRSM enabled him to study at the Royal College of Music (RCM), London.

Ng Chong Lim

Hailing from Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, pianist–composer Ng Chong Lim studied at the Royal College of Music (RCM), London under the tutelage of Professor Frank Wibaut. He continued his piano studies with Professor Elza Kolodin and subsequently with Professor Beat Furrer at the Universitat fur Musik und darstellende Kunst Graz, Austria for music composition.

Johannes S. Nugroho

Dr. Johannes S. Nugroho graduated from YPM music school in 1991 with a Performance Certificate and an Award for Outstanding Performance under the tutelage of Mrs. Iravati M. Sudiarso. In 1994, Johannes finished his undergraduate study with a Summa cum Laude from Towson University, Towson, USA. In 1995, from the same university, Johannes completed his Master's degree with an Award for Distinguished Achievements.

Lim Chan Kiat

An active recitalist, Chan Kiat Lim has performed solo and chamber recitals in Germany, Greece, Italy, Romania, Asia, and throughout the United States including solo performances at Music at Penn Alps Concert Series in Maryland, Laeiszhalle in Hamburg, and a return to Steinway Hall, New York City, in 2011.

Nopanand Chanorathaikul

A distinguished classical pianist and a highly sought-after teacher, Dr. Nopanand obtained her Doctor of Musical Arts Degree in Piano Performance from the Thornton School of Music, University of Southern California, U.S.A. under a Fulbright Scholarship. She obtained her Master of Music Degree from the Eastman School of Music, Rochester, New York.

Chun-Chieh Yen

Pianist Chun-Chieh Yen has concertized in Europe, Asia, and America, embracing a wide range of repertoire. Concerto performances take Mr. Yen to orchestras all over the world including the Russian National Orchestra, Staatsorchester Rheinische Philharmonie, and the National Symphony Orchestra of Taiwan. He has enjoyed collaborations with many conductors, including Mikhail Pletnev, Henry Mazer, Uri Mayer, Shao-Chia Lü, and Günther Herbig.

Carolyn Lo

Born in Kuala Lumpur, Carolyn was offered a full graduate assistantship from Miami University, Ohio to pursue a Masters in Piano Performance and successfully graduated in 2011. She also holds the LRSM and FTCL performance diplomas with distinction, as well as a Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Newcastle, Australia. In 2015, she became the first Malaysian to be awarded the FRSM in piano performance with a distinction.

Chan Wei Tuck

Chan Wei Tuck has performed and collaborated with pianist Lucas Wong, flutist Roberto Álvarez and Zephyr Flute Ensemble, and violinist Goh Chia-Chien and Tomislav Dimov. Other solo and ensemble performances were at Ehrbar Hall, Bösendorfer Hall at Mozarthaus Vienna, the College of Creative Arts at West Virginia University, Frank Arts Center at Shepherd University, and Le Quadri Ballroom at UCSI University.

Su-yen Chee

Malaysian pianist Su-yen Chee has established herself both as a soloist and chamber musician. She has given solo and collaborative recitals in the United States, Hong Kong, Japan, China, Korea, Thailand, Singapore and Malaysia.

Cheong Yew Choong

Cheong Yew Choong holds his Bachelor’s, Master’s, and Doctorate Degrees from West Virginia University (USA) under full scholarship and graduate assistantship. His teachers include Prof. Dr. Peter Amstutz and Prof. Dr. P’ng Tean Hwa. Despite hearing impairment, Yew Choong is a prizewinner of several competitions: Music Teachers National Association Collegiate Artist Piano Competition in the State of West Virginia, WVU’s Annual Young Artists Auditions and the VSA Arts’s International Young Soloists Award.

Hee jung Choi

Hee jung Choi, a Korean pianist residing in Malaysia, obtained her Master Degree from Western Illinois University where she was awarded with the Graduate Assistant Award. While at WIU, Hee Jung has won the concerto competition as a soloist one year and as a trio ensemble in the year after. Subsequently, she was admitted into the University of Iowa post-graduate program as a recipient of the prestigious John Simms Piano Award and Graduate Assistantship.

Jaz Tan

Jaz Tan graduated from University of Western Ontario, Canada with a Master of Music degree specializing in piano performance. Her piano teachers include Professor Maureen Volk, Professor Kristina Szutor, Ms. Tina Yanchus and Ms. Carla Furlong (harp).

Joyce Wang

Joyce Wang, born in Taiwan and raised in Belize, received her DMA from West Virginia University, USA, under the tutelage of Christine Kefferstan, James Miltenberger, Yeeha Chiu, and William Skidmore. Her solo and chamber performances include musical production Into the Woods for Laurel Highland District of Pennsylvania

Kenneth Teh Kien Huat

A native of Petaling Jaya, Kenneth is a graduate of the Moscow State Conservatory named after Tchaikovsky, where he studied with Alexander Fomenko, and later - with Professor Natalia Trull, under whom he graduated.

Lee Yin Hwa

A native of Malaysia, Lee Yin Hwa, obtained his Bachelors and Masters from Western Illinois University, and a one-year post-graduate study at Boston University under the Dean’s scholarship. Yin Hwa was the 3rd prize winner at the 1st Brevard Music Festival piano competition in North Carolina, and concerto competition winner at Western Illinois University. Among his principal teachers include Prof. Anthony Di Bonaventura, Prof. Dr Michael Campbell, James Magsig, Rickie Oui and Serena Chow.

Lim Pei Sien

Lim Pei Sien is known for her aptitude to collaborate well with other musicians. She has performed in recitals and music festivals in Malaysia, Brunei, Thailand, Austria and the USA as a chamber musician as well as a soloist.

Morag Yong

Morag Yong was born in Kuching, Malaysia. She entered the Royal College of Music (RCM), London to study with Peter Element. After graduating with First Class and also obtaining the ARCM Teaching Diploma, Morag continued at RCM to obtain the Master of Music degree in Performance Studies. Whilst at college, she won numerous prizes including the Marjorie & Arnold Ziff Prize for the most outstanding Graduation Recital. Her education in London has been made possible with the generous support of the Sarawak Foundation, The Countess of Munster Musical Trust and The Charles Napper Trust.

Tan Hui Sean

Tan Hui Sean earned her Advanced Certificate from the Shanghai Conservatory of Music, Bachelor degree from University of Maryland and Master degree from New York University. During her study abroad, she was a recipient of Eltermann Scholarship, Moses Asch Memorial Scholarship, Graduate Assistantship and Langley Fellowship. She performed regularly with the university’s Symphony Orchestra, UMBC Camerata, UMBC Collegium Musicum, NYU Collegium Musicum and La Salle Baroque Players (Singapore).

Yong Sue Yi

Yong Sue Yi has received her Master of Music in Piano Performance from Peabody Conservatory of Music (USA) under the tutelage of Marian Hahn with full scholarship. She is the first Malaysian pianist graduating from the Yong Siew Toh Conservatory of Music in Singapore, with a BMus degree (Honours) in Piano Performance. She was awarded a full scholarship under the tutelage of Albert Tiu for her four-year studies in the Conservatory. Sue Yi has worked as a chamber musician under the guidance of Dr. Thomas Hecht, Katherine Jacobson Fleisher, David Takeno, Zhang Jin Min, and Keng-Yuan Tseng.

Ysan Suit Yin

Assistant Professor Ysan Suit Yin is the Head of the Classical Music Degree at UCSI University. She is a very dedicated teacher and has been actively teaching since 1986. Her academic achievements are mainly in teaching, ATCL (Teaching), LTCL (Teaching), LRSM (Teaching) and she was one of the first in South East Asia to be awarded the Fellowship of the Royal Schools of Music (FRSM) in teaching by the Royal School of Music.
